Index for inclusion
The Index for Inclusion is defined by Tony Booth and Mel Ainscow as “...a resource to support the inclusive development of schools”.
This resource is worth mentioning as it could be very useful for implementing inclusive practices in your class. The index for inclusion by Tony Booth and Mel Ainscow is a set of materials to guide schools through a process of inclusive school development. It is about building supportive communities and fostering high achievement for all staff and students. The index contains a series of materials, guides, and indexes that can come in handy when working towards inclusive classrooms.
You can use the index in your school in order to :
❖Review and analyse your own practices, policies, and cultures, and identify areas that might be causing barriers to participation and learning.
❖Decide how to refocus priorities and evaluate progress
❖Encourage reflection and review of school activities to work towards a more inclusive environment.
